2013 Summer Exhibition forms

Our second exhibition of the year will run from Saturday 17th - Monday 26th August, with a preview on the evening of the 16th. The deadline for entries is Thursday 1st August.

You should have already received your entry forms with the msot recent newsletter, but, if for some reason you need replacements you can find the forms online on the Membership & Exhibition Forms page. Also on that page, towards the bottom, there's a new guide to help with presentation of paintings.

Spotlight - The Art of Erté

Returning to Muddy Colours, this is a brief look at Romain de Tirtoff, better known as Erté, a man who massively influenced the Art Deco movement.

Here's the link: http://muddycolors.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/inspiration-erte.html

If you know any great art websites or articles, why not share them here? Send your suggestions to samsketches@yahoo.co.uk - please note that this isn't for self-promotion!

Upcoming - LAS at the Ludlow Fringe, and Karen Van Hoff talk

This Sunday the LAS have a stall at the Ludlow Fringe Festival! I've mentioned it a couple of times already, but it's worth checking out - we'll have browsers for sale, and you'll be able to see some examples of what people talk about at our monthly evening meetings.

Shortly after that, on July 4th, we have Karen Van Hoff speaking on the subject of jewellery making. You can find Karen's website here: http://www.karenvanhoff.co.uk/
I don't think we've had anyone with these skills give us a talk before, so this promises to be very interesting.

See you there!

Upcoming - Monnington Court

Tom Crowe has just pointed this out to me - a video of some of Angela Conner's sculptures at Park West Business Park, Longleat House, Chatsworth House, Inner Temple Garden, Tunbridge Wells, Lovells and Cranbourne, Dorset.

Monnington Court is Angela's home, where she has her sculpture garden, and where we're heading for a plein air day on the 15th. Just a few posts down there are more details, plus a map of how to get there.

Pictures from Martin Dutton's talk

Martin was a very energetic speaker, explaining how he got into art, his career path and his unorthodox watercolour methods. He brought along several paintings, his palette and sketchbooks filled with a wide variety of both looser and more detailed sketches. Here are some pictures from the evening (click to enlarge):

Next month, on Thursday 4th July, we have Karen Van Hoff with her talk "Silversmith and More"!
